I couldn’t believe the price for a new pair of work boots. They want two hundred dollars for a new pair of boots. Piss on that shit. I will not shop in that store anymore. Time to buy at Wally World or somewhere else. Maybe I will look online, but buying boots online is kind of scary. You have to try work boots on to see if they fit the way you want them to. I always put both boots on and walk around a bit to make sure that they are going to be exactly what I want.

Then again, if I buy the exact same boots I have online for cheaper, they should fit the same as the ones I have. I really would like to upgrade to a pair of Red Wing boots but they are really expensive and even more so in the stores. Perhaps I could go try them on in the store and then order what I want online for cheaper. That might work out well for me. Either way I am still going to have to buy new boots for work. I hate shopping for work boots. Oh well, what must be done, must be done.

Busy Week for Big Brown

Wow – it seems like every day this week I have had a package delivered to my doorstep by UPS. I bet the driver is about sick of driving down my street by now. I have seen the truck in my neighborhood as late as 8:30 pm, delivering the packages in the dark. I know this is their busiest time and after Christmas a lot of them will be out of work. But it is pretty cool to know that you can get a package from your house to mine in about 1 day, if you are willing to pay the price, no matter where in the U. S. that you live.

Kids Movies

Do you ever think about how much movies made for kids have changed over the years? For the most part, computers and computer generated graphics have made it a lot faster and easier to create animated movies and special effects. The story lines have changed a lot and so have the soundtracks.

One thing I really don’t understand is why do they hire the big name celebrities to do the voices on animated movies? If you never see the celebrity and they don’t have to move or do stunts, who cares who is actually reading the lines? Why do they pay the high dollar actors and not give the entry level talent a chance to make some money and do the “acting”?

The F Word

So all my life I’ve heard that using the word, Fuck, is considered a curse word. But sometimes we all have to refer to that word. So the uptight and overly proper people resorted to calling it “the “F” word.” And everyone is supposed to know that when they hear “the F word” that the person means Fuck.

So, if you know that is what they are saying, what is the difference between them saying the word or not? They have communicated that word to you and you both know the meaning of it. So why cover it up? That is like lying, in my book.

Change for the Sake of Change

So I got the new version of WordPress. Once again, I have to retrain myself to find where to click to get the things I use. It slows me down and is annoying as hell.

The new dashboard looks very different and its not really better for me. Now there is no short, fast click to take me to the text editor so I can write a new post. Sure, you can do the mini post – but they don’t let you assign your post to any categories. So that is useless.

Next time the smart people decide to make changes, how about having a good, useful purpose in mind instead of just changing things for the sake of change?

Found a bunch of stamps stuck in the back of a drawer and I don’t know if they are any good or not. I know they didn’t expire. I mean I don’t know how much it costs to mail a letter these days. The price is always going up and I hardly ever mail anything. So if these stamps are the current value I’ll need to go buy some penny stamps or whatever to make up the difference. What a drag that is.

Kindle Me

Everyone wants a Kindle so they can read books on a tablet instead of buying a real book. I don’t know if that is fair to all the book authors and publishing companies. Are the right people making money on these Kindles or are people getting ripped off like Napster did to the music business?

I hear the Kindle sells for about $120. That is the cheapest version, the small one, in only black and white. I want one in color, so I guess I have to wait until the price comes down a little – hopefully later this year.

As if we needed another reason to worry about identity theft: Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have discovered it’s fairly easy to guess the first six digits of a person’s Social Security number if you know the birth date hometown. That’s because there are chronological and geographical patterns to the numbers.

The Social Security Administration is working on a method to generate randomized numbers. But what to do in the meantime? Don’t carry your SS card in your wallet, don’t write your number on a check and don’t give our your number – or any other identifying information, like your birth date – unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Flu Shots Again

This year I am going to try and get the flu shot that everyone is so happy with these past few years. I don’t like needles, which has prevented me from getting the flu shot in the past, but I’m tired of spending at least a week each winter with the flu. It really sucks getting the flu each year, it knocks me down for at least a week and I end up missing a chunk of work that is really hard to make up and get back in control when I finally get back to my desk.

I’m gonna call my doctor and make an appointment during my lunch break tomorrow and get the job done and over with.
